SLAVE MUTINY ON THE AMISTAD--the 1840 illustration showing the captive Africans
taking over the Spanish slaving vessel, "L'Amistad," in 1839--the surviving blacks were eventually
freed by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1841.
 


THE FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN NEWSPAPER--A first-year (1827), Volume I complete issue of America's very first black newspaper, published by Samuel E. Cornish and John Brown Russwurm in New York City.

IRA FREDERICK ALDRIDGE -- the first
great African American Shakespearean actor.
Exceedingly rare 1856 poster announcing
Aldridge will play the role of Shylock in
"The Merchant of Venice."
 

FAMOUS ASSAULT ON FORT WAGNER --Original hand-colored illustration by Currier & Ives of the first Northern black regiment recruited during the Civil War.  This was the final action scene in the major motion picture "GLORY."
